Kakashi x Reader

The Hidden Leaf Village had always been a place she loved visiting. Her family were merchants who travelled through the Land of Fire, buying and trading goods from all over the country.

And out of all the places [Name] had been to, out of all the exotic sights she has seen, the Hidden Leaf Village was the place where she felt like she belonged. The place where she felt like she was… home.

The large ninja village was always so lively and welcoming, the main streets bustling with people, the aroma of food wafting through the streets. The people of Konoha were extremely friendly, offering warm greetings and interesting conversations as they made purchases from her family’s makeshift stall.

Many times, she found herself being fascinated with the Shinobi, the way they moved with such stealth and grace and how they were so loyal to their country. But seeing as she only stayed in Konoha for a week every other month, she never had a chance to enroll in the ninja school. So she would settle for wistfully watching the Shinobi from afar, silently wishing she had a chance to be one of them.

But each time she went back to Konoha, there was this one person she loved to meet.

Kakashi Hatake

~~

After helping her family set up the stall, she wandered off to roam the streets, keeping an eye out for a familiar head of spiky silver hair. It had been two days, and he still had not sought her out. Sighing heavily, she sat herself down on a bench in the park.

What if he’s hurt? I haven’t seen him the previous time I was here either… It has been almost four months since I last saw him…’

They had known each other for years, having met in a small bookstore where their friendship first started. Ever since then, he’d visit her whenever her family was in Konoha, spending as much time together as possible. And if he was on a long mission and couldn’t make it back in time to see her, he would always get someone to pass her a note, telling her how he was sorry and that he’d see her the next time she was in town.

But the previous time her family was in the village, she never managed to see the masked shinobi, and didn’t even receive a note from him. It worried her to no end, fearing for the safety of her favorite ninja. Her heart clenched at the thought of Kakashi being injured, or worse… Shaking away the negative thoughts, she tried to convince herself that he was a strong fighter, and he would keep to his promise to see her again.

Pulling out a small book from her bag, her lips curved upwards in a small smile. ’That perverted Kakashi said he wouldn’t die without reading the complete series of Icha Icha anyways.

The said book in her hands was the newest installment of Kakashi’s favorite series, still neatly wrapped in a clear plastic sheet, since her face would turn a bright red whenever she took a peek at what Kakashi was reading. A wistful sigh left her lips as she reminisced how he would laugh and ruffle her hair when she blushed at the contents of the adult novel.

“Is that Icha Icha?” Her head snapped up at the sound of that familiar voice, and she looked around, eyes searching for the owner of that low voice.

“Up here,” the voice called out. Looking up, she spotted Kakashi perched on the branch of a tall tree, his eyes closed as he smiled at her, his hand held up in greeting.

The worried feeling in the pit of her stomach soon turned into anger at the way he so casually greeted her after disappearing on her for so long. Storming up to the tree, angry tears pricked at her eyes as he soundlessly landed on his feet before her.

Kakashi was about to say something when he saw her glazed over eyes. “Hey… [Name], what’s wrong?”

Her jaw clenched tightly as she glared daggers at the silver haired shinobi, causing him to flinch.

“What’s wrong?” She sneered, pressing a finger against his flak jacket. “What’s wrong is you, Kakashi Hatake!”

“It’s bad enough that I rarely get to see you, and you just disappeared on me for so long, without leaving any note or anything, and now you think you can just pop back out of nowhere and act as if nothing happened?!” Hot tears started rolling down her face as her voice raised with every word she said, her finger stabbing his chest accusingly.

A small bead of sweat appeared on his temple as he tried to wrap his arms around her in an attempt to calm her down, to which she slapped his hands away.

“D-Do you have any idea how worried I was?” [Name]’s voice cracked as she looked down to the verdant grass, indignantly wiping the tears away. Her body shook with sobs, the tears falling to the ground as her voice lowered to a whisper, “I was so scared something happened to you, Kakashi. I was so afraid that you were hurt in a mission. And when I didn’t see you when I got here yesterday, I thought you might have… I was terrified that I might have lost you forever…”

Kakashi’s dark eye softened, and he pulled her into his embrace, and this time, she didn’t resist. Instead, she wrapped her arms around his waist, holding on tightly to him as if he were her lifeline.

Stroking her hair tenderly, he murmured, “I’m here now. I won’t disappear like that again… I’m so sorry I made you worried.”

He held her until her crying turned into sniffles, and she asked, her head still buried in his chest, “What happened to you?”

“Ah, last time you were in town, I was in the hospital, and for the most part, I was unconscious so I couldn’t get someone to send you a note. This time, I just got back from a mission today and I immediately started searching for you.”

Her stature stiffened, and she pulled back slightly, looking into his eye with guilt painted all over her features. “Kakashi… I’m so sorry! I was only thinking of myself and-“

She was cut off as a pair of lips pressed against hers. His mask was the only thing separating them, but it did nothing to contain the warmth his lips radiated.

[Name] couldn’t hide the blush rising to her face as she stared at him wide-eyed, while he just smiled at her, his eye crinkling at the corner.

“I’ll always come back to you, no matter what.”

~~

The sun was about to set, the sky painted in a brilliant fusion of shades. Rays of the orange light streaked through the blue sky, the clouds bearing a yellow hue as the entire horizon danced in a union of colors.

In a meadow, amidst a sea of flowers lay a couple, the girl snuggled against the chest of the male, as he had one hand wrapped around her, the other holding up a novel in front of him.

[Name] let out a blissful sigh, and she smiled happily. “Kakashi?”

The chest beneath her head shook gently as he let out a humming sound, his attention still zeroed in on the new book she bought him. Sitting up, she turned to face him, and pulled the book out of his hand, closing it and putting it down beside her, much to his protest.

Groaning, he propped himself up on one elbow, giving her a passive look. “Okay, okay, you’ve got my full attention now. What is it?”

A bright smile grew on her face as she chirped, “I want to see your face. Without your mask and all.”

Hesitance flashed in his dark eye, a frown forming on his face.

Sensing his reluctance, [Name] gave him the puppy dog eyes, her lips forming a small pout, which effectively broke his resistance as he nodded halfheartedly.

The smile she flashed him served as a consolation, and she hooked her fingers around the corner of his mask, slowly pulling it down to reveal the slender arc of his nose, his inviting lips, and his sharp aristocratic jawline. Taking in how attractive he looked, she breathed out, “Why would you hide your face behind a mask if you look so…”

“Amazing? Sexy?” Kakashi cut in, a cocky smirk growing on his lips, and she laughed, hitting his chest playfully.

Her fingers moved to remove his forehead protector, when he grabbed her hands firmly. “[Name]… I don’t think you should do this. I have a bad scar, and my eye… You might not be prepared to see it.”

Placing a soft kiss on the tip of his nose, she told him, “I don’t care. You’re still you no matter what you look like.”

Gradually, the grip on her wrist loosened and she took off his headband, revealing a long scar, which ran over his closed eye. She brought her finger up to his face, gently tracing his handsome features, causing his dark marble-like hue to flutter shut. Her touch left a trail of warmth in its wake, as she traced his jaw, up to his lips, his nose, and finally the scar that marred his face.

“Open your eyes,” She whispered into his ear, sending a jolt of electricity down his spine.

Obligingly, he opened both eyes, watching her intently, as if waiting for her to run away from him. She cupped his cheek, gazing into the blood red orb with black markings within.

“You’re not afraid?” He asked, hesitantly pushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear.

“I could never be afraid of you, Kakashi.” Leaning in, she placed a soft kiss on his lips, his lips following hers when she pulled back too quickly for his liking.

For the first time since she met him, he flashed her a genuine smile; one where she could actually see his entire face.

And while she was stunned by the pure appeal of the silver haired shinobi, he took advantage of the situation and pulled her back into a kiss. One hand tugging her closer to him, the other pushing himself up as he moved against her, gently coaxing her mouth open as he deepened the kiss, passion and love evident as their lips molded against each other.

When they broke apart for much needed air, her hands were tangled in his soft, silvery hair; both of them breathing heavily, with their lips slightly swollen. His mismatched gaze pierced through her, the intensity of the look sending her heart aflutter.

Leaning his forehead against hers, Kakashi whispered in a husky voice, “You are the only one I’ve ever loved so much in my life, [Name].”

This is my first fic written in the naruto universe, so please forgive me if I've gotten any terms wrong, and I'm very sorry if Kakashi seems OOC. I haven't actually fully understood his character yet, but hopefully this isn't too far off from his personality. kaomoji set 2 47/67

Also, I suck at editing my own work, so if you see any stupid mistakes, please let me know! kaomoji set 2 18/67
