Bokuto Koutarou x Reader
This was a bad idea.
Feeling your heart racing in your chest, you began to regret every decision you made since you agreed to come to the amusement park with your friends. You were having loads of fun until they somehow persuaded you into taking one of the scarier rides with them. It wasn’t until you were in the queue when you saw the tracks of the rollercoaster with all the drops and loops.
“I don’t think I can do this…” You gulped as you heard the piercing screams from those already on the ride.
“You’ll be fine!” Patting you on the back, your friends ushered you along the busy line. The ride you were queuing for was a popular one; and having queued for over 20 minutes, there was no way your friends were going to let you chicken out.
As you reached the front of the line, it dawned on you that it was two to a car, and there were 5 of you in the group.
Of course, you were the unlucky one who had to sit with a stranger.
You were too terrified to notice someone sit down next to you until the attendant strapped both of you in.
“Hi!” The person who sat next to you greeted when brightly you looked at him. With grey hair streaked with black, his appearance was distinctive, and had you met him on the streets instead, you would probably have noticed how cute he was.
Somehow, you managed to muster out a feeble smile. But when the car jerked to a start, you bit your lip, looking forward as you put your hands on the handlebar in front of you.
It was pure torture.
The ride had barely begun, and you already wanted it to end.
And honestly, the guy next to you was making everything ten times worse.
“It’s coming, it’s coming!!!” You could practically feel the excitement radiating off him in waves as he fidgeted in the seat.
The car was slowly moving upwards, and it felt as if it had been ascending for a long time. And that could only mean one thing… it was going to be a fast drop…
“Hey, you alright?”
You opened your eyes to look at the guy next to you, who peered at you with his golden eyes.
“I’m just a little scared,” you laughed nervously. “I’m not a big fan of rollercoasters.”
“Here!”
He held out his hand to you and you stared at it, unsure of what he wanted.
“Hold my hand if you’re scared!” He grinned. “And you better do it quick, because a really high drop is coming, followed by the loops.”
Oh god.
Glancing forward, you saw that the tracks looked as if it disappeared because of the steep descend.
Without a second thought, you grabbed hold of his hand.
You screamed your lungs out through the rest of the ride, clinging on to the guy’s hand tightly. He screamed with you, but his voice was filled with exhilaration; one that clearly showed how much fun he was having.
But he never once let go of your hand.

The ride eventually came to an end, and your eyes snapped open when the car lurched to a stop.
“That was fun!”
It was only when he spoke up that you realised you were practically hugging his arm.
“Ah!” You cried out, letting go of him. “I’m so sorry!!”
“It’s okay!” He said as the he started getting out of the ride. He then turned around, offering you a hand up, which you gladly accepted this time.
You stumbled forward when you got out but he caught you in his arms, your face against his chest with his hands curled around you.
“S-sorry…” Embarrassed, you shifted away from him, trying to regain your balance. “I feel like my legs are turning into water.”
He laughed heartily but he kept an arm around your shoulders, helping you walk towards the exit. “Come on, I’ll find you somewhere to sit down!”
“Thank you… erm…”
“Bokuto!” He piped up. “Bokuto Koutarou!”
“Thank you, Bokuto-kun. I'm [Name].”
“So, [Name]-chan. Did you come with your friends?”
“Yeah… They should be somewhere around here though. How about you?”
“My friends are eating at a restaurant nearby,” he told you, and his expression turned into a pout when he muttered, “they didn’t want to sit on that ride with me again…”
Looking at him in disbelief, you asked, “was that your second time on that ride?”
“Yup! I would go again, but the queue is too long!”
“Wow…”
Bokuto brought you to a bench to sit and he sat down next to you, the distance between you minimal. After calling your friends to tell them where you were, you glanced at him.
He was sitting casually beside you, looking around the grounds of the amusement park with a gleam in his eyes.
“Thank you.”
Bokuto’s golden orbs zeroed in on you, a grin still plastered on his face. “Huh? For what?”
“Well… For everything…” Rubbing your hands together, you looked down, finding it awkward to spell everything out so clearly. “Thank you for holding my hand during the rollercoaster, helping me out here and waiting for my friends with me…”
“Then to make up for it… stay with me today!”
“What?!”
Staring at him incredulously, it took him a few seconds to correct himself. “Wait… I didn’t mean it like that! I meant having lunch and going on rides together! We can ask our friends along too! The more the merrier!”
“Okay, Bokuto-kun." The shaky excitement that he had around him was just too contagious and you found yourself laughing. "It’ll be fun to spend the day together~”

Although you didn’t know it then, that was the start of your relationship with Bokuto Koutarou. The way you met was a rather accurate description of your relationship, actually. Being with Bokuto was like a rollercoaster ride. There were tons of ups and downs, and certainly a lot of drops (especially on his part) and obstacles that you had to face together.
But looking back, you had no regrets.
Even though the ride was scary as hell, it was all worth it if it meant that – at the end of the ride, you’d be still holding Bokuto's hand.
