Samurai!Bertholdt x Reader [ Samurai!AU ]
The Bushido code, also known as “The Way of The Warrior”, is a code of conduct for all Samurai to abide by, cultivating seven important virtues that a true warrior would hold.
Rectitude. Courage. Benevolence. Respect. Honesty. Honor. Loyalty.
And for Bertholdt, these virtues came to him as naturally as breathing.
From a young age, he had been practicing the various arts of a samurai, diligently practicing his combat skills each morning before heading for other lessons after. By the time he was in his late teens, he had become a highly skilled fighter, in addition to being adept in battle tactics.
[Name] was the niece of Lord [L/N], the master whom Bertholdt was sworn to. Lord [L/N] had always doted on her dearly, seeing as he only had sons and no daughters of his own.
And in the yard of the [L/N] Mansion was where they first got to know each other.
It had been a few weeks since she moved in with her uncle, and one night, she just couldn’t fall asleep, the memories of her parents haunting her. Swinging her legs over the side of the bed, she put on a coat and decided to take a walk in the large residence. She was walking along the garden when something, or rather, someone caught her attention. In the middle of the yard was a tall silhouette, practicing his swordplay.
Never had she seen someone move so gracefully, looking like he was practicing a dance, rather than a lethal skill. Every move he made was swift and precise, his footwork light and intricate as he moved in time to a silent rhythm only he could hear. The sword, gripped firmly in his hold acted like an extension of his own arm, the blade reflecting the moonlight with every subtle movement.
Fascinated, she started to walk closer to him, wanting to get a closer look at who this person was. A dried leaf crunched beneath her feet, and within an instant, she heard a whooshing sound and saw a pointed edge barely an inch away from her face. She sucked in a deep breath and her heart skip a beat, racing in her chest as her wide-eyed gaze was fixated on the razor sharp blade pointed directly at her.
When he apprehended whom the person before him was, he immediately dropped the deadly visage and his eyes widened, his jaw unclenching as he instantly sheathed his sword.
“F-forgive me, Lady [Name]! I didn’t realize it was you… I thought you might have been an intruder,” Bertholdt hurriedly explained, giving her a low bow.
“It’s alright, I should have made my presence known before approaching you.” Upon seeing his uneasy expression, she tried to lighten up the atmosphere. “If you didn’t notice me, does that mean I’m very stealthy?”
Seeing as she had forgiven him, he let out an awkward laugh and agreed without a second’s hesitation. “Of course, my lady.”
She sighed at his formal use of language and said, “Just call me [Name] will do. You are…?”
“My name is Bertholt.”
“Bertholdt…” his name rolled off her tongue smoothly, and he couldn’t help but like the way she pronounced his name.
“My uncle often speaks highly of your skills. And I can see that you’re extremely talented too.”
Ignoring the heat rising to his face, he stuttered out, “T-Thank you.”
Noticing his averted eyes and his hunched shoulders, she asked him tentatively, “Are you finished with training? If you are… maybe you could walk me back to my quarters?”
“Oh! Of course, I will escort you back,” Bertholdt bowed as he followed after her when she started walking.
The sound of the footsteps upon the wooden floorboards was the only sound that befell upon them, and the silence was deafening.
“You don’t have to be so formal with me you know,” [Name] commented as she looked back at Bertholdt who was walking slightly behind her.
“As Lord [L/N]’s family, it is only right for me to treat you with utmost respect.”
“I’d very much prefer if you’d treat me as an equal when we’re alone, rather than treating me as a person of a higher status… After all, it’s this status that got my parents killed…” She muttered the last part, her eyes downcast as she slowed in her footsteps.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know it would upset you so… If it pleases you, I will try to do away with the formalities.” Bertholdt said warily, carefully choosing every word, afraid that his response would further sadden her.
A small smile graced her lips as she turned to look at him. “I would like that,” her voice barely audible as she continued walking, a silence engulfing them once more. When they reached her room, they faced each other, and this time, it was Bertholdt who broke the silence.
“Have a good night, [Name].” He smiled down at her before giving a small bow and started to walk away.
“Bertholdt?” She called out before he gotten too far, “would you mind… if I watched you practice again?”
He stared at her for a moment, registering her words, and his lips curved upwards further. “I don’t mind at all!”
Giggling at his enthusiastic response, she bid him goodnight and retreated into her room.
It was no surprise that as she slept that night, her dreams were occupied with a certain dark-haired samurai by the name of Bertholt.

It was like a nightmare
And it’s pain for me
Because nobody wants to die too fast
He wanted to scream, the amount of agony the onyx-haired male felt was unbearable, however no sounds came out of his incarnadine lips. He kept on staring in horror at the nightmare in front of his leather boots. And suddenly, his legs started to give out, and before he knew it, his knees fell to the moss-covered floor, staining his pristine white pants with crimson liquid and wet dirt. Silver streaks glided down his porcelain skin, and his head arched up at the

"I never want to see your face again."
Heavy rain drops slammed on the exterior of his silk-black Aston Martin car — the noise slightly calming his nerves.
"Why won't you believe me!" She screamed, her hands balling up into fists.
He clenched his hands on the steering wheel, his knuckles turning ivory from the grip he held on the helm. The ravenette slammed his foot on the accelerator, and he began to zoom past more cars on the freeway.
"Mister Ackerman, this is Doctor Erwin Smith." A low monotonous voice said from the other side of the line, "We are calling in regards to your fiance, [Nam

He was falling. Collapsing. Drifting into the endless void he called the "afterlife." It was filled with blackness, an endless abyss that he could never find solace in. There was no air, no breeze, no liquids or ailments, no people. His eyes, once suppressed with ache and the loss of fallen loved ones and comrades, were now brimmed with tears as he glared at the emptiness above.
A tear slips from his sockets, ambling above his supple body. His steely hues slowly droop down, the last glimpse of the tear on his mind. The man offered a tiny smile to nothing in particular, lolling his head ba

This idea has been stuck in my head for about a week now, and I only had the time to write it out now. A Samurai!AU sounded rather cool, and I was kind of inspired after watching "47 Ronin" and reading up some stuffs about the samurai and Feudal Japan.
I know, this kinda iffy… There's a lot of conversation going on, practically no romance, and the descriptions could be more vivid. But it's super late at night rn, and my brain is fried from studying. I'm sorry if there are mistakes. *hysterical laughter*
