Sousuke Yamazaki x Reader
Making her way into the Samezuka campus, [Name] walked up to the biggest building, stopping in front of a sign board to look for directions to the dorms.
"You're really cute!" A voice beside her exclaimed. Turning, she saw a boy, looking about a year or two younger than her grinning widely at her. "What's your name? You can call me Momo! Are you lost?"
Slightly taken aback by his loud and bubbly personality, she blinked a few times before she realized she recognize him from somewhere. His fiery orange locks were definitely something which she would remember seeing. Then it clicked in her head. Momo was one of the swimmers representing Samezuka for nationals. Momo was in the same relay team as him ...
"Erm, I'm [Name], and I'm looking for someone. Would you know which dorm Sousuke is in? Sousuke Yamazaki."
"Yamazaki senpai? I'll take you there right away! I was just on my way to look for Rin senpai too!"
[Name] smiled nostalgically as she remembered Rin during their childhood days. Letting Momo lead the way, she listened to his incessant chatter, and wondered how Sousuke could ever put up with such a chatty team mate.
"Here we are!" The cheerful boy declared as he used his knuckles to bang against the door rapidly.
Shuffling could be heard in the room, and a muffled voice shouted out, "Okay, okay! I'm coming already! Geez..."
Her heart pounded hard in her chest as things she planned to tell Sousuke slipped from her mind. Maybe she shouldn't have come all the way here. Maybe he didn't want to see her.
Before she had a chance to change her mind, the door slammed open, and a guy with shark-like teeth appeared in the doorway. "Oi Momo. I'm not deaf."
Rin paused when he noticed [Name] standing behind Momo, and a flicker of recognition flashed in his eyes as she smiled shyly at him. But before Rin could say anything, Momo announced loudly into the room, "Yamazaki senpai!! A really really cute girl is here to see you!"
A familiar head of dark locks peeked out from the top bunk, and she bit her lip as she started to inwardly freak out. Lost in her thoughts, she didn’t even realize he had approached her until a large shadow loomed over her, a deep voice pulling her back into reality.
“…[Name]?”
Looking up, her eyes met with his beautiful teal orbs. A hint of surprise shadowed in his usual calm demeanor as he glanced at her in concern. “What are you doing here?”
His question went unanswered as the [h/c] haired girl stared wide-eyed at him, her lips slightly parted as if she couldn’t believe she was seeing him again. After all, it had been months since he broke up with her and left for Samezuka. [Name] recalled him telling her that she would eventually forget her feelings towards him and move on. But now, as he stood so close in front of her, all the emotions she buried deep deep down in her heart rushed back to her, hitting her like a huge wave.
“Sousuke…” Her voice came out as a whisper, her mind whirling as she threw herself into his arms, holding onto him tightly as she breathed in his familiar scent. Barely a second passed before he wrapped his arms around her smaller frame, and a sigh of relief left her lips seeing as he didn’t push her away.
When he spoke again, his tone held a soft affection which he reserved only for her, even though his eyes were glaring daggers at his teammates who were staring shamelessly at them. “Let’s go outside. The guys are looking at us."
They walked out of the dormitory in a comfortable silence, Sousuke occasionally stealing glances at her thoughtful expression. As they reached a grassy patch a short distance away from the main building, he tugged at her hand gently for her to stop. Turning to her, he asked, choosing his words carefully. "[Name], why are you here?"
Her countenance turned solemn as his lidded gaze bore into her. "I... I needed to see you."
The way his expression turned guarded didn't escape her, especially the way he folded his toned arms around his chest and the serious look that settled on his face.
"Why would you need to see me again? We broke up months ago."
"I was worried okay?!" [Name] blurted out loudly. She always hated when he put on a strong front and didn't let her in. Averting eye contact, she continued, this time in a softer voice, "I was watching nationals, and I saw what happened. Your shoulder... Are you alright?"
Unconsiously, Sousuke reached up to touch his shoulder. Sighing deeply, he looked back at her, a hard look in his eyes as he deadpanned, "I'm fine."
Her eyebrows creased into a deep frown, a scowl marring her face. "Don't lie to me, Sousuke..."
When he didn't say anything, [Name] let out a shaky breath. "Maybe... maybe it was a bad idea to come here."
She was about to walk away when his large hand encased around her wrist.
"Wait." He breathed out, "don't go."
"What do you expect from me, huh? You broke up with me to follow your dream, and I still supported you even though I was terrified your shoulder would completely break down. And when I come all the way here because I was worried, you act like it's none of my business. I don't know what to do anymore Sousuke... I really missed you..."
Strong arms wrapped around her waist, and she felt him nuzzling his face against her hair. "I missed you too. So much. And I'm sorry... You know how bad I am at expressing myself."
Shifting so that she could hug him back, she melted into his familiar embrace. "Where are you going from here now that we're graduating?"
"I honestly don't know." His chest rumbled as he spoke. "But wherever I'm going, I know that this time, I'll need to have you here by my side."
